for the trivia buff
Here's an interesting little piece of info that will one day be part of the Trivial Pursuit Sean Michael Welch edition... in my head.
For those of you who actually read this, you may know that Chicago's Thunder and Lightning Ensemble will be running a performance of EARL THE VAMPIRE in 2007. What you may not know is that one of the stars is Kim Logan.
Yes, THE Kim Logan.
Who is Kim Logan? Well, she stared in another play of mine while I was still an up and young-coming college playwright back in the folds of the motherland, Flint. WHY BERNARD SHAW WAS ACTUALLY A WOMAN, as directed by Josh Sauvie for his directing class final, and starring Eric Miller, who gained infamy for being the original Hampton in, yes, you guessed it, EARL THE VAMPIRE. And also starring Jamie Caron, who is married to Jennifer Rudolph, who was my Shana in the same production.
When coincidences like this happen, I can't help but think serendipity plays a small part.
Here's to a new year full of welcome surprises.
P.S. GO KATIE!

FYI- the first review of T&L's Chicago run of Earl is in and it speaks very highly of both the writing and performances. The site is down right now, but if you go to the Chicago Free Press website later today you should be able to find the review

Couldn't find a review of Earl at the Chicago Free Press ("the Midwest's Number 1 gay newspaper"), but there are a few others lurking about in cyberspace.
From the Sun-Times: "Sean is surprisingly very normal [...] He just has an odd sense of humor."
The Chicago Tribune points out that the performances are "biting." Ahem.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Reader insists "Welch's approach is schizophrenic."
